Time is a concept we can’t go around. It’s very useful for appointment making, it will help people to be in the same place at the same time. Or in my case I’ll be 10 minutes before set time and if I’m lucky I don’t have to wait another 20 minutes. It’s also helpful to know how long you still have to be/can be in one place and of course there is the whole birthday thing. I’ve never really been bothered by the concept of time. Not even when I lived in Michigan because 6 hours time difference is not bad at all and still easy to coordinate phone conversations around.
But 2009 made me dislike time, a lot. First it was like I was holding my cell phone (I don’t have a watch) in my hand every 5 minutes because I was waiting for someone. Then I started dating my girlfriend and we had limited time together. Limited time, a phrase I hate even more than time itself. Time seemed to fly. Before we knew it we had to say goodbye because I was leaving. July 18th, my dad’s birthday, we had a full day planned with museums, being awesome tourists in DC and we went to a soccer game but not before a nice birthday cake. It was a nice day, an awesome day even. We had fun but yet time dragged by. Why? I was waiting for my love to arrive at the airport.
People often tell me to keep busy and time will fly by but that’s not true. Right now time is not my friend again, not only is there 8 hours time difference between me and my girl (somehow more annoying than 9 hours) but again I have to wait for my love. Time does indeed fly when you are where your heart is. This could of course be with your girlfriend of boyfriend, but also in the right work place doing something you really love, or getting that education you find most interesting. Love makes time fly, doing something that you love to do, being with someone that you love to be with. So do something that you want to do, be with the person you love and don’t waste your time not doing those things. It’s my advice, I just have to learn to do it myself.
